Wheat ears, blossoms and a fine lattice ribbon, cut by hand into the glass — Sunbula, the etched goblet mabkhara.

Sunbula (“ear of wheat”) is mouth-blown in our Cairo workshop as a footed goblet, then hand-etched with the technique our engravers call hafr rotoush: a frosted band of wheat ears and open blossoms wound with a cross-hatched lattice ribbon, cut freehand on the wheel so no two pieces are exactly alike. The bowl is lined in 24K liquid gold to hold the perforated tray for charcoal and bakhoor, and the rim and foot are edged in gold.
