Egyptian Glass Oil Burner — Qafila · Camel or Elephant Figurine Aroma Lamp, approx. 16 cm (Model 161)
A caravan on the oil bulb: a camel or an elephant, each one shaped by hand at the flame.
Qafila is a tealight oil burner with a story. The oil bulb sits on an angled glass arm above a gilded candle dish, and on the bulb perches a miniature glass animal — a camel or an elephant — with gold lattice or dots around it. Fill the bulb with water and a few drops of essential oil, light the tealight, and the room is scented in minutes.
It is the piece tourists bought in Cairo for decades; today gift shops, museum stores and fair-trade boutiques in Europe sell it as a handmade souvenir with a use. Mouth-blown from heat-resistant borosilicate glass and finished with 24K liquid gold in our Cairo workshop. Order the two figures together — they sell as a pair.
