Shaped like the Arabic coffee pot — the handled mabkhara made to be passed from guest to guest.

Dalla takes its name from the dallah, the Arabic coffee pot that stands at the heart of Gulf hospitality. Like the dallah it has a loop handle, a ribbed body and a tall conical lid with a teardrop finial. The optic-ribbed footed cup is lined inside with 24K gold to take the heat of the charcoal, the collar is ruffled and edged in gold, and the ribbed foot is finished with a ring of gold dots. The lid lifts off to light the bakhoor and goes back on to carry the burner safely around the majlis.

It is the piece for hospitality: Gulf homes and majalis, hotel lobbies that welcome guests with bakhoor, and wedding planners who pass the mabkhara along the tables. It pairs with the Finjan mabkhara (Model 166) — coffee pot and cup, a coffee-hospitality pair for the same shelf or gift box.

Each piece is mouth-blown and the handle is pulled and joined by hand in our Cairo workshop; small differences in rib and curl are the signature of the craft.
