A waist in the glass — the hourglass vase with a pearl sheen.

Qawam, “figure”, is a ribbed vase that swells, narrows at the waist and swells again before flaring open, set on a wide round foot rimmed in 24K gold. The pearl-lustre finish turns the ribs into bands of soft colour as the light moves.

It takes a tall stem — gladioli, lilies, eucalyptus — and reads as a piece of decor when empty. Sold in iridescent as standard; clear and coloured on request.

Each piece is mouth-blown and finished by hand in our Cairo workshop; small variations in shape, colour and decoration are the signature of the craft.
