Description
A vine laid on hot glass — the burner where the decoration stands off the surface.
Ghusn, “branch”, carries a climbing vine applied in molten glass while the goblet is still on the pipe, then traced in 24K gold with berries picked out by hand. Because the vine is raised, not painted, it catches the light from every angle.
Applied work costs the glassblower more time than engraving, which is why it is the piece buyers single out on a sample table.
Each piece is mouth-blown and finished by hand in our Cairo workshop; small variations in shape, colour and decoration are the signature of the craft.
